Ending a Story (for now)

For the last three years I have maintained Travelling Namibia. Not only did I want to share my amazing country with the world and any future travelers, but I also wanted to build my portfolio and exercise my hand in travel writing. However, as time passed things around me changed. And I changed. In the nine-months that my doctor motivated me to pick up weight, something within me became alive – except of course for the little being that was steadily becoming a boy inside my once flat stomach. Something else was lit. A fire that I have yet to control.

First I tried to adjust and change Travelling Namibia to a Travelling from a mother’s perspective… but it wouldn’t work. I tried to change everything to a Life from a Mother’s Lens… but that didn’t work either. I eventually realised that I am not all that into travelling anymore (the mothers out there might just understand!) and that I wasn’t all that into the whole mother perspective either. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mother, but that is not ALL of who I am.

And so I started browsing the internet. For ideas. For some kind of inspiration. And somewhere along the line I knew… I knew what I had to do…

Start a whole new blog documenting life. Life as the photographer that I am now, life as a mother who loves her little sand monster but still adores her two dogs and cat, life as a Namibian but most of all, life as who I am becoming. Of course I realise that I have to build a whole new following… but that is part of the challenge, isn’t it?

This then, will be the last blog post for a while – unless I get time to start editing like a nut. I have done a bit of a revamp on Travelling Namibia, to keep the focus on what it is – a (photo) blog about Namibia. It still needs some TLC – especially the portfolio – but this will happen as and when I have time. In the mean time, why not click over to my new blog and stay in touch!

PS. Travelling Namibia will be kept alive… for the travels I have time to document!
