Project: Alzheimer’s Dementia Namibia

Alzheimer’s Dementia Namibia

Deep in Kaokoland (Now Kunene Region) lies a little Himba village. But this is no ordinary Himba Village. This Himba village was built by Alzheimer’s Dementia Namibia (ADN) for Himba people with dementia.
In 2012, the force behind ADN, Berrie Holtzhausen, discovered that dementia is far more common among Africans than previously thought. Most cases are seen as bewitching and are not understood as medical. With a lot of ground work, ADN was born and the story of Ndjinaa became local and international news.
A couple of years down the line and Ndjinaa has stabilized and lives quite happily in her village. But as all things go, the project needs money to continue their incredible work in a vast landscape of misunderstandings and cultural indifference. As this is a project close to my heart, I support it whole heartedly and ask you to do the same.
