Still Life Photography

Every now and then I actually get the time to read my WordPress updates. You know, the notifications on the blogs that we follow. I admit, as a mom, time to read is basically zero, but a while back, my eye caught something and I have been pondering about ever since. Last night I had a bit of time on my hands with hubby at hockey practice and Mr H soundly asleep.

I have been following Leanne Cole Photography for quite some time as she is a lover of Black & White Photography – an art form that I greatly appreciate and thus admire. In this specific update, she showcased the work (Art!) of A View from a French Hillside and I totally fell in love. I have been going back to Jane Morley’s website more times than I can count. I’m like a dog that sniffed meat and cannot let go before I have all of it!

And so, a few weekends ago we visited Otjiwa Lodge and while waiting in their living room, I noticed a few details… and decided to fetch my camera. I don’t think I’ll ever be the traditional still life photographer who arranges things in order to get the perfect photo, but if still life photography has space for details, then I think I will give it a shot.

So here are my tries… What do you think?
