The Smell of Horses

Horses at Dusk

Ah, the smell of horses.

I found myself at the local Horse Club’s annual Show Jumping event a few weekends ago. I am experimenting to see which field in photography I enjoy the most and so my dear hubby suggested I attend the Show Jumping. Asking around I learned that on the Friday afternoon they have a small dressage competition and so I set off to take a few pictures.

Blessed with incredible light, I proceeded to stalk the riders. Afterwards I found these horses playing in the dusk. They were the poor souls that were not participating in the event, and so were kicked out of their stables to make space for their more royal cousins. But if it bothered them, it certainly did not show.

And oh… the smell…. (Can one keep a horse just to smell it?)
